I'm Back on HD

In 10 years and 6 months, the organ graft I received in 2013, has failed. And I am back on twice-a-week hemodialysis since last week. The decline started a couple of years ago; chronic rejection exacerbated by acute episodes. The past year was spent trying to slow down the decreasing GFR(glomerular filtration rate), and I finally hit 6% in March, which is the end stage. My creatinine and BUN numbers were screaming, and there was only one option left.

I was admitted for surgical access insertion(Permcath™), and restarted hemodialysis. Now, I go to the center for my twice-a-week-sessions. A bit of adjustment in logistics, but I am definitely feeling much better than the past 18 months pre-dialysis.
